Thakurnagar (WB), Nov 15: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday alleged that “dirty politics” is going on in the name of publication of the final draft of National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Assam as names of genuine voters have been struck off the list.
The Trinamool Congress supremo asserted that she was not against the Assam government, but she does not support NRC.
Dharamshala, Nov 11: The Dalai Lama left Dharamshala Friday for a brief visit to the national capital and then begin his 10-day teaching tour of Japan beginning November 13.
From Delhi, the Tibetan leader will leave for Japan on Tuesday. His Holiness will give teachings on different spiritual topics during his tour. He will also hold a dialogue between Buddhist science and modern science with scientists at the Pacifico Yokohama (National Convention Hall of Yokohama).

New Delhi, Oct 12: In a historic verdict, the Supreme Court on Friday ruled that besides the State, a victim of a criminal offence can also file an appeal under the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) in superior courts challenging acquittal of the accused without prior nod of the appellate court.
In a 2:1 majority judgement, a three-judge bench headed by Justice M B Lokur held that section 372 of CrPC (which deals with provision of appeals in criminal cases) has to be given “realistic, liberal, progressive” interpretation to benefit the victim of an offence.
New Delhi, Oct 12: The Women and Child Development Ministry plans to set up a panel of legal experts to look into the allegations of sexual harassment that have surfaced in the #MeToo campaign, minister Maneka Gandhi said Friday, asserting that she believes in the “pain and trauma” of every complainant.
More women should come out and address the issue of sexual harassment and narrate their experiences, Gandhi said.

Gurgaon, Oct 10 (PTI) The Shiv Sena and another Hindu organisation claimed to have forcibly shut around 400 meat and chicken shops at different locations here on Wednesday, demanding that they remain closed during Navaratri.
Chief of Shiv Sena’s Gurgaon unit Gautam Saini told PTI that around 300 members of different Hindu organisations assembled at the Lord Shiva temple located at the Old Railway road on Wednesday morning and headed to different places to close meat shops.
Pune, Oct 9: The #MeToo movement rocked the Symbiosis Centre for Media and Communication (SCMC) here, with several former students accusing their seniors and some faculty members of sexual harassment.
The SCMC authorities apologised to the women and said the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) had ben instructed to hear their complaints.
The former students had taken to social media platforms and shared harrowing accounts of harassment by some faculty members and their seniors. They alleged the authorities did not do anything though the incidents were brought to their notice.
