GANGTOK, 3 February 2019: Chief Minister Pawan Chamlinghas said that if any national party was to form a government in Sikkim, the Centre would be able to meddle in the life of the Sikkimese people. Speaking indirectly of BJP, he said that the Sikkimese people would have to ensure that only a Sikkimese party was able to form a Government in the state.
The Chief Minister was addressing a programme organised at Samman Bhawan in Gangtok. He said parties like BJP could never understand the ethos, desires and aspirations of the Sikkimese people.
Chamling’s attack on BJP despite the fact that his party, Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) is a member of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) headed by BJP, points to the fact there is increasing rift between the two.
Chamling claimed that Bhaichung Bhutia was the puppet of the BJP and that Hamro Sikkim Party founded by Bhutia was financed and managed by New Delhi.
Chamling also led a blistering attack on Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) saying that the party has unleased hooliganism, murder and extortion. He said that SKM wants to bring change in Sikkim which would certain spell doom for peace and tranquility in the state.
Chamling added that his party, SDF, was the only party which was working for the betterment of the people of Sikkim. SDF would continue with the development work being carried on in the State.
