KALIMPONG, 2 MARCH 2018: Vandals yesterday entered Dream Theater in Kalimpong at the dead of the night and tried to destroy the Projection Room. The vandals destroyed most of the equipment. They also snapped the fiber optics and whatever wires they could find.
Sushma Chemjong, Propriertor of Dream Theater speaking to ‘The Himalayan Beacon’ said that she along with her husband had started the Dream Theater two years ago because of their love for cinema and to create an entertainment centre in Kalimpong which lacked the same. She said that Dream Theater became very popular immediately after its inauguration and people flocked to the Theater.
Chemjong said that it would take around a week to restore the infrastructure and repair and replace the equipment destroyed by the vandals. She said that the Theater would have to bear the lose of not just the equipment destroyed but also the lack of revenue from the number of days that it would have to remain shut for repair work. She said that she along with her family members and staff were shocked at the attack on the Theater. She said that the management was trying its best to offer the best facilities to the people of Kalimpong including online booking soon.
She said that if anyone had any problems with the management they could directly contact the management and seek redressal.
