KALIMPONG, 18 JANUARY 2018: Sushan Thapa has qualified as a Grade A Referee and Judge at the Karate Association of India (KAI) Senior National Karate Championship 2018. the Championship held at Kolkata was organised by KAI, which is affiliated with Indian Olympic Association.
Thapa who runs a Karata Training Academy at Kalimpong said that it was a dream come true for him to be recognized at a national level. Speaking to ‘The Himalayan Beacon’ he said that he was grateful to Bharat Sharma, General Secretary of KAI and R. Theagarajan, President of KAI for their guidance. He said that he was also grateful to Paramjeet Singh, Ansari Mam, Hanshi Premjit Sen among others.
Thapa has been training youngsters in Karate and have been participating in various national and international championships with good results. Sports observers state that him being recognised as a Grade A Referee and a Judge is an added feather in his cap and a welcome news for martial arts enthusiasts in the Hills.
