Rally for the Free Tibet in Kalimpong

KALIMPONG, 19th DECEMBER 2017: Tibetan Youth Congress today took out a rally in Kalimpong calling for the Independence of Tibet from China. Tamdin Hrichoe, Vice President of the Tibetan Youth Congress (TYC) while speaking to ‘The Himalayan Beacon’ said that the rally had started from Salugara near Siliguri three days ago and the rally reached Kalimpong today where the local tibetans joined the rally.
Hrichoe said that the rally was part of a pan India ‘Bharat Jagaran Yatra’ which was taking place simultaneously all over India. He and his friends were rallying for support in Darjeeling Hills and Sikkim and during the process were able to meet many leaders including the Chief Minister of Sikkim, Pawan Chamling and had submitted memorandum requesting him to support the cause of Tibet.
Hrichoe said that they were in Kalimpong to seek Tibetan independence and to point out the fact that the security of India would only be guaranteed through the independence of Tibet. He also said that this rally was part of TYC’s Bharat Jagaran Yatra whereby the TYC was also gathering signatures in the support for Free Tibet.
