Medical Camp organized by Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) at Mirik





MIRIK, 16 NOVEMBER 2017:  A medical camp was organized by Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) at Mirik in which free medical checkup and medicines were provided. A number of students from various school availed the facility of free medical checkup. Speaking to THB, a high ranking officer of the SSB said that it was in the charter of the SSB to help in the development of backward tribal population which resided in the border areas. He said that the SSB had been distributing free computers, printers and UPC to the schools in border area. When asked as to how many schools the SSB had provided free computers in the Hills. He said that it was hard to come up with the specifics but the SSB had the fund for the same and that the SSB had been helping schools throughout the entire India-Nepal border in which it was stationed. He said that SSB also made toilets for the schools, provided furnitures such as desks and benches even school bags and uniforms according to the needs of the schools.

Ultimately, he added that SSB was deployed in the Indo-Nepal and Indo-Bhutan border because though both Nepal and Bhutan  shared porous border with India which in many cases were being used by some organisations to fuel violence and conduct nefarious activities in the India. SSB has been stationed to help in the protecting the border from these activities.
