A lost hope Gorkhaland:
As of now the GTA pact has failed to bolster the confidence of the people due to its uncertainty to come into effect. It has been stuck between the state and the centre and the GJM are left to watch the powerplay among them.Ms Banerjee several visits to Darjeeling including its subdivisions shows she still wants to instill hopes that what she has promised is not untrue. But the centre pussyfooted over the demands and this is quite clear through the indication of prolonging it for no reason. The stalemate agitprop to the fulfillments of demands at an instant will again exorcise the ghost of Gorkhaland with political chaos and turbulence in the hills and plains. The centre’s laxity to the matter has given the negative ramifications to the stalemate in the hills. This might aggravate the equation between Darjeeling and Writers Buildings in Kolkata.Ms.Banerjee visited Kalimpong perhaps aimed at to lower the temperature against the revival of the statehood’s agitation and convince the political leaders. But if she fails to reiterate the centre to pass the pending GTA bill she might miss the bus in the case of settling the hills affairs. The GJM’s stand on achieving the gorkha dominated areas in the Dooars and Terais before the election will put the state government in an acute dilemma.Nevertheless, the centre too is undecided to cross this main hurdle which has been put to them. Chief Minister’s didn’t mention the high power committee headed by (retired) Justice Shyamal Sen for the inclusion of demanded areas by the GJM in the of late discussion. She wants to shift her focus to the promotion of tourism and economic developments because centre might drag on the GTA bill for sometime. The GTA was to be controlled under the North Bengal Development Corporation is creating more illusion and it will curtail or else deprive the privilege of the autonomous powers that come under the GTA agreements. This is unreasonable at a time when chief minister’s promises are on the wane botched up by the centre and she makes such decision to create fresh trouble.Undoubtedly, ground realities is fairly different than it seems through the rhetoric of Ms Banerjee. The ball is in state’s and centre’s court to not letting go of Darjeeling and its people. There is reliance upon the new government which is obvious and that is why there is peace and the GJM holds its fire. But the aspirations which were envisioned by the people are yet to be fulfilled and demands immediate fructification.

Mr JBS, the center has NOTHING to do with the halting of the GTA. The state has EVERYTHING to do with it!
The Dooars-Terai territory issue will strangle the GTA to death. The Justice Sen-headed committee needs 6 more months to decide the territory issue and it is a foregone conclusion that there will be no decision even after that. The only party that can backtrack here is the GJM which could accept a GTA sans Dooars and Terai.
The question is – will GJM survive after that?

This is regarding a statement by :
Rajpal Yadav
Add’l SHO, Sector 29, Gurgaon
Quoting him: ‘Girls from Darjeeling and Nepal have come here for business purposes. They go with men for money, but if the money isn’t enough, it becomes rape’

I think so that no one no matter what position he is in should be able to make such statements. Hence as a news portal of Darjeeling I find it as my duty to inform you and I also beleive that you’ll fulfill yours by doing something about it. We have posted grievances in http://pgportal.gov.in/ as per our duties. Please provide some suggestion as to what more we can do regarding it.
Thank you.
