All in all, the two-hour long concert was filled with energy and vigour with the crowds jumping and dancing to Gurung’s folk-rock ensemble. Nepathya’s first live performance in four years in the capital was a sure hit. Read the rest of this entry »

Kathmandu, Sep 30 (IANS) After Indian cricket icon Sunil Gavaskar, Nepal has roped in former Indian Idol winner — and the pride of Nepalis — Darjeeling boy Prashant Tamang to promote tourism and help draw 1 million visitors to the country next year.
From being a sepoy in the Kolkata Police force in West Bengal state, the 27-year-old of Nepali origin became a household name in India as well as Nepal after winning the third edition of the reality show in 2008 by polling an unprecedented 70 million votes.
Prashant now joins Miss Nepal 2010 Sadichhya Shrestha and Khagendra Thapa Magar, the smallest teen in the world at 22 inches, to become an ambassador of the Nepal Tourism Board.
Prashant owed his victory in 2008 partly to the overwhelming support he received from Nepal where clubs raised money to send members across the border to India and send SMS votes. Read the rest of this entry »

FROM NDTV.COM
Lucknow: Sixty years after it first went to court, the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court has pronounced verdict on the Ayodhya title suit.
Senior advocate and BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad emerged from court today to say that the three-judge bench had ruled in a majority judgement 2:1, that one-third part of the disputed land should be given to the Sunni Waqf Board, one-third to the Nirmohi Akhara and one-third to the party for ‘Ram Lalla’. Prasad represents one of the litigants.
Ravi Shankar Prasad claimed the court had ruled that the place where the idol of Ram was kept was the birthplace of the deity and the idols should not removed.
Prasad claimed that the court had asked for a status quo for three months and in that time the litigants had to decide how to split the party.
Litigants emerged from the courtroom with copies of the judgment and there has been chaos outside the Lucknow court ever since. Read the rest of this entry »
