Kalimpong Mainline Taxi Drivers Welfare Association distribute clothes and blankets to poor

KALIMPONG, 13TH JANUARY 2018: Kalimpong Mainline Taxi Drivers Welfare Association (KMLTDWA) today distributed  warm clothes, blankets, slippers and choclate to the poor family and tea workers of Elanbari Tea Estate today under Jalpiaguri District .

Formed in the year 1997 the association has been regularly doing different welfare work in Kalimpong and adjoining area .

Today under the initiative of Binod Moktan President, Richard Bhujel Secretary, Obed Tamang Treasurer about 30 members of KMLTDWA went to Elanbari Tea Estate and distributed the items to about 300 poor workers of the tea estate.

Richard Bhujel secretary while speaking to ‘The Himalayan Beacon’ said, “Being a driver we save some amount from our earning in a year and take part in welfare activities to show that we too can participate in serving our fellow citizens despite our low earning.”
