THE HIMALAYAN BEACON KALIMPONG NEWS BUREAU
KALIMPONG, 2 DECEMBER 2017: In what can be termed as a dramatic event, top leadership of Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) today resigned from the party along with their supporters. Among the top leadership include the whos-who of the party in Kalimpong District viz. Dr. R. B. Bhujel (President, Kalimpong), Sarita Rai (GJM MLA from Kalimpong) and Subha Pradhan (Kalimpong Municipal Chairman) as well as Kumar Chamling, party spokesperson for the party, Bijoy Sundas among others.
Addressing the media, Dr. R. B. Bhujel said that there has been severe collapse of leadership in the party and that the people who once followed party president (Bimal Gurung) without question now were not only challenging his leadership but were alleging that he was involved in violent activities during the 104 days agitation this year. Sadly, such a situation has arisen that with the absence of party president Bimal Gurung, it cannot be also said with conviction that he is not involved in violent activities. Thus much like the people we are also in a melee. Thus with lack of clarity from both sides (Binay Faction and Bimal Faction) we have unanimously decided to instead resign from the party. We have never indulged in non-democratic movement or in violence and will never do.”
