SILIGURI, 28 JANUARY 2018: All India Jana Andolan party leader Amar Lama has lashed out at the State Government sayign that only Binay Tamang, President, Gorkha Janmukti Morcha and Mann Ghisingh, President, Gorkha National Liberation Front are allowed to hold political meetings in the hills by the adminsitration. Speaking at the 3rd Foundation Day of the party at Baghajatin Park in Siliguri Lama said that there was no such thing as democracy in the hills.

Lama said that the party had requested for permission to hold the meet at kalimpong but was not allowed to do so. He said that the party had been forced to shift the meet to Siliguri. He said that people had to spend money to attend the meet because they were forced to travel to Siliguri. He said that it was sad that while people celebrated gleefully the Republic Day yet they were not allowed to hold a public meeting in the hills.

Lama said that the political situation in Bengal was not right. He said that his party did not beleive in violence. He said that his party wanted to pursue the demand for the separate state of Gorkhaland in a peaceful and democratic manner. Yet they were not being allowed to pursue their democratic right.

Lama also spoke out against the S. S. Ahluwalia, the Member of Parliament from Darjeeling Constitutency. He said where was the elected representative from the region when the entire region had been brought to a standstill during the 104 days long strike. He said that BJP was hoodwinking the people and making a fool of them by making false promises.
