KALIMPONG, 20 JANUARY 2018: A 14 year old was allegedly molested near Teesta Bridge by one Digim Giri age 33 year of Soreng, Rangli Rangliot Block, Kalimpongy. A case has been filed under PROTECTION OF CHILDREN FROM SEXUAL OFFENCES (POCSO) ACT, 2012, sections 328 and 368.
The Girl had come with her father to attend Beni Mela or Maghey Mela. The girl and her father belongs to Soreng. The father then left for Soreng while the girl left for her elder aunt’s house who lives in Teesta. Later when the father contacted his elder sister, she said that his daughter had not come to her house. The father along with his relatives began searching for her. The incident took place on the 15th of January. When the girl was nowhere to be found, the father ultimately received a call from Purnea, Bihar that his daughter was in Bihar.
The father left for Bihar and was able to bring back his daughter.
On her return, the girl said that one Digim Giri had lured her near Teesta Bridge then given her some drugs. When she lost her sense he had molested her. He then took her to Bihar where she was repeatedly molested by Giri.
On the father’s complaint at the Teesta Police Station, Giri who also belongs to Soreng was arrested and brought to Teesta Police Station where he was booked under sections 328 and 368 of the POCSO Act.
