DARJEELING, 1 DEC 2017: Gorkha National Liberation Front (GNLF) has welcomed the reformation for the new committee of the National Gorkhaland Committee (NGC). Addressing the media, Y. Lama, the spokesperson of the party said “the NGC has reconstituted its core committee. The GNLF welcomes it and extends its support. The Party president (Maan Ghisingh) has congratulated and promised to extend its full support to Lt. General (Retd.) Shakti Gurung for becoming the President of the NGC. Trilok Dewan has been made the Vice President of the NGC. The General Secretary is Prof. Munish Tamang. We are sure that they will definitely work sincerely towards the achievement of Gorkhaland.”
Meanwhile, Neeraj Zimba, spokesperson GNLF has clarified on the issue of the Hill Area Development Committee saying that there were some misconception as to the nomenclature of the Hill Area Development Committee. He said that many people thought that it was a council which it was not. Instead it was a committee and that the Party President and the General Secretary were only President and Vice President of the committee and not a council. The committee was formed to look towards the smooth implementation of different development works in the Hills and it had been accept only as an interim measure by the party.
