DARJEELING, 27 OCTOBER 2017: Gorkha Janmukti Yuva Morcha (GJYM) one of the most potent moving force of the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) and probably its leader Bimal Gurung has pledged its support to Binay Tamang and Anit Thapa.  This can surely be taken to be a major setback to Bimal Gurung, who had earlier been very close with the Yuva Morcha and banked on its support.

In a meeting held today at Darjeeling, the Yuva Morcha leadership was not just reshuffled but many previous leaders who were close to Bimal Gurung were dropped from the party. Media personnel were frequently reminded of the “old friends who were in the forest and who should now realize that their way of leading the movement from the forest was over” – a stark reminder to the Yuva Morcha leadership and cadres who are still said to be with Bimal Gurung.

The Yuva Morcha pledged itself to support the present administrative structure under Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) and see to it that development reached the nooks and corners of the Hills. Further the leadership made its frustration clear towards the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leadership and said that since they had been hoodwinking the people for so many years, it may be time to elect local candidates instead of sending ‘unknown faces who do not care about the Hills’.

  1. Set back for GJMM. Unpriciple stand by youth wing. These people must make their stand clear on gorkhaland issue and those who lost their life during agitation.
