SONADA, 23 NOVEMBER 2017: A Panel Discussion on Freedom of Press in Darjeeling was organised by the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Salesian College, Sonada on the occasion of the National Press Day. The National Press Day is observed on the 16th of November 2017 but due to unavoidable circumstances, the the Panel Discussion had to be held on the 21st of November. The Panel Discussion was moderated by Privat Giri, Assistant Professor, Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Salesian Collge and the guests included Rajiv Ravidas from ‘The Telegraph’, Rinchu Dolma from ‘The Darjeeling Chronicle’, P. Rai former creative head of ABN News and Barun Roy from ‘The Himalayan Beacon’.

The Key Note address was delivered by Father C. M. Paul, the Vice Principal of the College and the HOD, Dept. of Journalism and Mass Communication. Fr. (Dr.) George Thadathil SDB, Principal of the College gave the Concluding Remarks. The panel discussion was lively and well attended by the students of the College. The students also participated in the discussion by posing questions to the panelists.
