KALIMPONG, 23 JANUARY 2018: A number of major political parties from Kalimpong District has condemned Binay Tamang, Chairman, Board of Administrators, Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) for threatening Sikkim. It may be noted that Tamang, who is also the President of Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (Binay-Anit) faction had warned Sikkim from meddling in politics in the Hills. Tamang had said that he did not want to interfere in the politics of Sikkim but the Sikkimese Government has always been interfering in the politics of the Hills. Tamang directly addressed Sikkimese Chief Minister and said that it was upon him as to what kind of relationship he wanted to maintain with Darjeeling Hills. If he interfered the relation between Sikkim and Darjeeling Hills would deteriorate.
Tamang’s said warning to Sikkimese Chief Minister and the Sikkimese Government has attracted wide condemnation from various political parties and apolitical organisations in Kalimpong District.
All India Jan Andolan Party (JAP), All India Gorkha League (AIGL), Gorkha United Liberation Front (GULF) and apolitical organisation Kalimpong Krishak Kalynan Sangathan (KKKS) have all condemned Binay Tamang for threatening the Sikkimese Government.
