Bimal Gurung’s home constituency – Singamari Tukvar Constituency falls to Binay-Anit faction

Sources within GJM has claimed that within weeks the Central Committee of the GJM including the Nari Morcha (Women’s Wing) would be reconstituted and it is highly likely that both Bimal Gurung and Asha Gurung (his wife) both of whom head GJM and the Nari Morcha respectively would lose office of Presidents as well as be expelled from the party for activities unbecoming of the members and office bearers of the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha, namely incitement of violence and undemocratic activities.

DARJEELING, 16 NOVEMBER 2017: Singamari Tukvar Sadar I Constituency has pledged its support to Binay-Anit faction. The party committee of the same have been reconstituted and the old guards who were close to Bimal Gurung have been removed. The new members are said to be close to Binay-Anit Faction. Singamari Tukvar Constituency which is also Bimal Gurung’s home constituency along with Singla and Goke Constituency until a few days ago formed the nucleus of Bimal Gurung’s stronghold Gurung, the chief of Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) who is presently in hiding has found his support base slip from his hand daily. Jyoti Kumar Rai, one of his closest confidants had only yesterday given statement to the press saying that he was convinced that all violent activities perpetrated during the 104 strike was undertaken under the direction of the Patleybas office implicating Bimal Gurung and three other leaders viz. Prakash Gurung, Pravin Subba and Dipen Malay. Now with Singamari Tukvar Sadar I Constituency falling in line with Binay-Anit faction, political observers are of the view that Bimal Gurung could indeed find himself completely ousted from the party. Sources within Binay-Anit faction has claimed that within weeks the Central Committee of the GJM including the Nari Morcha (Women’s Wing) would be reconstituted and it is highly likely that both Bimal Gurung and Asha Gurung (his wife) both of whom head GJM and the Nari Morcha respectively would lose office of Presidents as well as be expelled from the party for activities unbecoming of the members and office bearers of the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha, namely incitement of violence and undemocratic activities.
