Kolkata (West Bengal), July 5 (ANI): Students of Jadavpur University staged a massive protest against the authorities, after the latter decided not to conduct entrance tests in six undergraduate arts courses, this academic session.

The courses include- Comparative Literature, History, Political Science, Philosophy, English and Bengali.

“We want tests to be conducted in the same manner it has always been done,” said the protestors.

The market value of the recovered Uranium is around Rs 3 crores.

New Delhi, May 30 (ANI): After 16 days of continuous hike, fuel prices on Wednesday witnessed a slight drop.
The petrol prices have been cut down to 60 paise in Delhi and 59 paise in Mumbai while diesel price went down by 56 paise in Delhi and 59 paise in Mumbai.

The revised petrol prices in metropolitan cities are- Delhi: Rs 77.83 per litre; Mumbai: 85.65; Kolkata: 80.47 and Chennai: 80.80.
Meanwhile, the cost of diesel per litre as on Wednesday is Rs 68.75 per litre in Delhi, Rs 73.20 per litre in Mumbai, Rs. 71.30 in Kolkata and Rs. 72.58 in Chennai.

New Delhi, May 29 (ANI): The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will declare its class 10 result on Tuesday at 4 pm.
School Education Secretary Anil Swarup tweeted that “Results of CBSE Class 10 examinations for 2017-18 to be declared by 4 pm on 29th of May, 2018”.

According to the Board, the results will be available on the websites – www.results.nic.in, www.cbseresults.nic.in and www.cbse.nic.in.
The students can also view their results on UMANG mobile application.

New Delhi, May 28 (ANI): Petrol and diesel prices continue to touch another peak for the 15th consecutive day, with the key transportation fuel being sold at Rs 78. 27 per litre in Delhi.

The revised petrol prices in metropolitan cities are- Delhi: Rs 78.27 per litre; Mumbai: 86.08; Kolkata: 80.76 and Chennai: 81.11.
Meanwhile, the cost of diesel per liter has also been increased and the revised prices in Delhi are – Rs 69.17 and Mumbai Rs 73.64 per litre.

In West Midnapur district, out of 3040 Gram Panchayat seats, the contest was conducted on 2224 seats. TMC has won 274 seats and leading in 128. While BJP has won 49 seats and is leading in 14 seats and CPI(M) has won eight seats and leading in nine seats. Siliguri, Mar 09: Commemorating 50 years of India and Bhutan diplomatic relations, Indo-Bhutan Friendship Association (IBFA) organised a 3-day long 6th Indo-Bhutan car rally on Friday. IBFA organised the car rally with the help of West-Bengal Tourism Department and Bengal Motor Sports Club of Kolkata. It is also India’s only International Time-Speed-Distance (TSD) car rally. The rally kicked off from Siliguri under Darjeeling district for Bhutan on its long journey of over 400km. More than 30 cars from various parts of the country and six cars from Bhutan have joined the rally. According to the organiser this kind of initiative will encourage the motor sports in the region as well as develop the relation between the two neighborhood counties. The participants will cross jungles, rivers and hills areas during their adventurous rally. On Saturday the 2nd leg will run from Phuentsholing in Bhutan. (ANI)

Kolkata, October 25: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday said she is ready to lose her mobile phone connection but won’t link it to her Aadhaar card.

“Under no circumstances will I link my Aadhaar with my telephone number. If the authorities disconnect my phone, let them do it,” Mamata said while speaking at the core committee meeting of her Trinamool Congress party in Kolkata.

Hemant Thapa, 45, hailing from Dikling village, has an extraordinary talent of playing flute not with his mouth, but with his nose.

“I am playing flute since my childhood when I was in class VII or VIII. But it was when I was in standard XII, on the occasion of Independence Day, one of my friends came and gifted me a flute and asked me to play it. I started playing the flute and then I discovered that if it can be blown with mouth, it can be blown with nose as well. So, I practiced to play with nose and since then I have been playing flute with nose,” Thapa told ANI.
