Anit Thapa takes development pledge; MLA Rohit Sharma attends the rally lending support

DARJEELING, 29 TH OCTOBER 2017: A sizeable gathering was witnessed today in a political meeting organised by the Binay Tamang – Anit Thapa faction of the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) at Kurseong. Kurseong Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Rohit Sharma attended the meeting lending support to the Binay Tamang – Anit Thapa faction of the GJM. The meeting was addressed by number of speakers including Anit Thapa. Addressing the people Thapa said that he respected the people who opposed him and accused him of selling out on the issue of Gorkhaland. He said Gorkhaland was an issue which could not be sold to anyone. He said that when the movement was going astray and violent he and Binay Tamang had been forced to step in so that everything was not lost. He said there were leaders who were staying in some luxurious resort in Sikkim but lying to the people saying that they were living in jungle. He also said that such leaders who tried to direct the movement in absentia through audio releases should understand that the people have called their bluff and that they were no longer in support of them. He also said that it was proof enough that the people were now flocking towards them (Binay Tamang-Anit Thapa faction).

Anit Thapa said that audio releases made by Bimal Gurung should be stopped. He said that both he and Binay Tamang among other leaders were committed to the development of the hills and they would prove that to the people. He asked all the leaders associated with their faction to work hard, be amicable and devoted towards the welfare of the people.

  1. Why does not he said anything how he and his chairman are going to push for gorkhaland in a democratic manner. Or they will also be in the helm for one full tenure and at the end do something undemocratic in the garb of gorkhaland issue.
