286 Birth Anniversary of the Last Lepcha King celebrated with pomp and gaiety

THE HIMALAYAN BEACON KALIMPONG NEWS DESK

KALIMPONG, 21 DECEMBER 2017: The 286 birth anniversary of the last lepcha king Pano Gaebo Achyok was celebrated in Kalimpong with pomp and gaiety. A function was held at Mela Ground, Kalimpong where a large number of people gathered to celebrate. The Lepcha people first took out a rally at Kalimpong.

Prominent guests participated in the function. They had been invited from Sikkim, Jaigaon, Nepal Terais, Dooars, Darjeeling and Kurseong apart from different places in Kalimpong District. The chief guest was Giddon Namchu.

The function was organised by Indigenous Lepcha Tribal Association (ILTA). Many Lepchas were felicitated during the function.
