15.5 per cent bonus declared for 21 non DTA – ITA Tea Gardens


DARJEELING, 17 OCTOBER 2017: 21 Tea Gardens from Darjeeling Hills which are not the member of Darjeeling Tea Association (DTA) or Indian Tea Association (ITA) and hence did not agree to the previously decided bonus for the year 2016-2017 met today at Darjeeling at the office of the Labour Commissioner. 15.5 per cent bonus was declared in the meeting for the said number of Gardens which include Rangli Rangliot Tea Garden. The bonus will be distributed in two installments. The first installment will be paid within 19th October 2017. The payable amount will be 10 per cent for the first installment. The remaining 5.5 per cent will be paid after 1st November. On the 1st of November 2017 a meeting will also be held at Uttar Kanaya where all the Tea Garden representatives, the Owners of the Tea Gardens and the Government official will to further discuss the issue of the various problems being faced by the workers of the tea garden and the tea industry especially in Darjeeling Hills as a whole.
